Hey did you know it’s better to buy a pet at a shelter than a pet store… I didn’t know that until just recently when I got an email from these guys who have some books to giveaway!
TITLE: Keep watching to find out how you can win one.
Hi I’m michael and I am Cyd and he’s the art director. spca came to us with campaign why people should adopt instead of buy from the pet store.
Now, what these guys did to help the SPCA was to create a video that is based on a very Famous song… but with a twist.
Patty sings Doggy in the window….
This is Patty Page a very famous country western singer who sold more than 100 million records. One of her most famous was Doggy In the window. But when Patty was older, she decided to change the lyrics to her song.
PATTY: When I recorded that song more than 50 years ago it seemed like a sweet innocent song… everybody thought the corner pet store was an adorable place to see puppies… they may still be adorable but they come from puppy mills … so I changed my tune… Do you see that doggy in the shelter…
What was once doggy in the window, was now called “Doggy in the Shelter.”
And Before she died, Patty said she wanted the new version of her song to be an anthymn for homeless pets.
Unfortunately, the new version didn’t get heard by many people, and that’s where Cyd and Michael come in…
Michael: we thought if we could make that song more popular, and create more awareness and get children to buy from shelters instead of the pet store….
BILL: what they came up with is a sing along video that uses Patty’s song….
INTERVIEW - So what do you want kids to do… Michael - what we want them to sing it. Sing it to themselves, to their parents, to their teachers….

Michael: That’s right, we have a book… we made the video into a book. It’s really cool and it’s got lots of cool pictures…
